Clear Lens
Extraction is performed by removing the natural crystalline lens of the
eye and replacing it with an artificial lens of a different power.
This procedure
is similar to cataract surgery. This procedure is only suggested for
patients with severe prescriptions that cannot be corrected by LASIK as
it is a far more invasive procedure. With this procedure the natural ability
to change your zoom (accommodate to see things up close) is lost necessitating
the use of reading glasses afterwards. Good candidates for this procedure
would include patients who have severe nearsightedness or severe farsightedness
that is not correctable by LASIK and the patient is over 40 years of age.
